WoW - Empowering Women to Leadership

Who Are We

Women of the World works to empower women to leadership in existing and emerging democracies throughout the world.

Founded in 1993 by Lynn Hinkle, Women of the World, Inc. (WOW) is a non-partisan, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) educational organization, incorporated in the state of Kansas. WOW is dedicated to providing women with the knowledge and skills necessary to build a civil society by participating in the democratic process.

WOW is exclusively an educational and training organization. WOW works with organizations serving target countries to identify and train grass roots, family, and village women who, as their survival and self-sufficiency needs are met by direct service organizations, contemplate policy level leadership in their communities.

Primarily through conducting free training seminars designed exclusively for women leaders, WOW empowers women at policy and political levels by:

  • Teaching women in emerging and existing democracies to recognize themselves as leaders.

  • Providing women with the skills and tools necessary to participate in all types of political and social processes in their respective nations.

  • Assisting women in developing and maintaining an infrastructure of support for women leaders within their local, national and international communities.

  • Helping women understand their connection with other women around the world, one woman at a time.

WOW advocates balance and inclusiveness at policy levels. According to visionary founder, Lynn Hinkle, a government of all men, or all women, lacks the balance needed for effective policy-making.

As the mother of four sons, Hinkle is committed to creating a civil society where mothers and fathers sit at policy-making tables together when decisions about resources, military action and human rights are made. Men have always been an intrinsic part of the efforts of WOW. Her sons, in fact, coined the auxiliary group name of “BOWWOW – Boys of the World who support Women of the World.”
